The Kansas City Chiefs have banned the 17,000 fans attending Thursday night's season opener against the Texans from wearing Native American headdresses or face paint as part of the team's initiative on racial and social justice.
Haskell Indian Nations University students in Lawrence, Kansas are among the many who have asked the Chiefs to make changes to their team. The school's former student government president also wants to see Kansas City change its NFL name, telling Fox News" It dehumanizes us and gives us Native Americans this picture of being this savage beast that is hungry for fighting when in real life we are nothing like that."
