England Outlaws Sex between People Not Living Together

If you think the United States' coronavirus restrictions were tough, be thankful you don't live in Great Britain. A new bill passed by Parliament Monday prohibits sex involving people who don't live in the same residence.

At least that's how legal experts are interpreting the law. The Health Protection Bill reads, "No person may participate in a gathering which takes place in a public or private place indoors, and consists of two or more persons." It goes on to say, "No person may, without reasonable excuse, stay overnight at any place other than the place where they are living." Anyone caught doing so can be fined 100 pounds -- or $125 in U.S. money.

Human rights attorney Adam Wagner took to Twitter to make the law clear. "I can’t believe I’m about to tweet this," he wrote on Sunday. "From tomorrow, sex between two (or more) people in a private place who do not live in the same household is a ‘gathering’ between 2 or more people -- and is therefore illegal."
