First there was coronavirus, then 'murder hornets,' now a black hole could swallow us all!
Ok, maybe it's not that dramatic, but astronomers say they've found the closest known black hole to Earth - just 1,000 light-years away.
CNN reports two companion stars gave away the hiding place of the invisible celestial body. The stars can actually be seen by the naked eye on clear nights in the southern hemisphere.
Astronomers noticed that one of the stars was orbiting a hidden object every 40 days.
