Mississippi's investigation into welfare fraud found that federal money allotted for the state's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, or TANF, was used to pay a non-profit connected to retired NFL player Brett Favre for a speech he never delivered!
The state's auditor found that $1.1 million was paid to Favre for a speech he never gave. It gets worse; Mississippi's Department of Human Services is accused of embezzling nearly $98 million dollars from the federal government that was supposed to be used to help the state's poorest and most at-risk.
Other rotten purchases by the department include football tickets, concert tickets and more. One woman purchased three trucks with the embezzled cash.
