European regulators have approved a new antibody test that's reportedly 99% accurate in detecting whether someone has already contracted the novel coronavirus.
"The test tells you whether you have ever been exposed to the virus and generated an immune response," University of Reading associate professor of cellular microbiology Dr. Simon Clarke told The Independent. "What it can't do is tell you whether you're immune or not."
Dr. Clarke explains that having antibodies doesn't necessarily equate to immunity.
UK based global diagnostics company Abbott says it expects to ship millions of the tests across the continent by May's end.
