The most unlikely person to score a hit on iTunes has done just that.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz, who's done a podcast every day since the impeachment trial began, has consistently finished each day at the top of the iTunes chart. His podcast has even been beating "The Joe Rogan Experience" and "The Daily," which usually battle for the number one spot. "The degree of interest and enthusiasm has been astonishing, and I didn’t remotely expect it," Cruz says of his daily impeachment recap. "I know when we sat down to record the first episode, we talked about how it would be a really great outcome if the podcast could break into the top 100 podcasts. I don’t think any of us envisioned that it would rise so quickly to the number one ranked podcast in the country."
Cruz's podcast has been downloaded more than 500,000 times, his office reports. "A lot of people don’t understand what’s really happening here, what this is all about," Cruz says. "I try to sum it all up in about 25 minutes so it’s straightforward and easy for someone to listen to on the way to work or on the way home and try to understand what’s happening."
