Depending on where you live, Jolly Ol' St. Nick takes on different names. Across the pond in England, the holiday visitor who pops down chimneys is known as Father Christmas.
On one Facebook group, a British mom was taken to task for using the term when she could have chosen the more gender-neutral Santa Claus.
The woman defended herself saying that she was only referring to the book Father Christmas and that "it's left me a little confused/on edge about what we are allowed to say." She did admit that she would switch to saying Santa to teach her child not to hurt others.
There were some who were unhappy at the backlash, with one noting, "Santa is so American, Father Christmas here and will always be Father Christmas. It's always a man."
