"Janie's Got A Gun" Turns 30

Aerosmith are famous for songs about sex and partying rather than serious issues. But one of their biggest exceptions turns 30 years old today - "Janie's Got A Gun".

The song, about a young girl who takes revenge on her abusive father, was released on Nov. 8th, 1989 and became a major hit, winning the band's first-ever Grammy Award. The video was directed by David Fincher, who would go on to direct Fight Club and The Social Network.

The song was the brainchild of lead singer Steven Tyler, who later launched 'Janie's Fund', a charity for women who were abused.
