Bret Michaels says people always assume that a song like "Nothin' But a Good Time" is easier to write than something emotional like "Every Rose Has Its Thorn". But it turns out the "good-time party songs" are the toughest to write.
He says, quote, "When you're partying and having a good time, there's no emotion in you that says, 'Let's sit down right now and write a song.'
"But [when] you have something break your heart . . . those moments are the toughest moments in your life, but oddly enough, [they lead to the] most defined songs and easier songs to write because you have an exact emotion."
