Officials feared that two-thousand-year-old redwood trees along Redwood Trail at Big Basin Redwoods State Park had burned and were among the devastation left behind by wildfires that swept through an area about 45 miles south of San Francisco in the past week.
But, most of them actually survived.
Some of the redwoods are considered among the tallest living things on Earth.
The historic park headquarters, many small buildings, and campground areas weren't so lucky though.
Big Basin opened in 1902 and has become a world-famous tourist attraction.
