At a hospital in Tokyo, they found a worm hiding inside a woman's left tonsil.
The 25-year-old woman first complained of a sore throat.
Doctors believe the worm got into her throat several days earlier after she ate raw fish containing its eggs.
The worm was about 4 centimeters long and definitely still alive.
Once it was removed, the woman said she felt instantly better.
Doctors note these types of incidents are happening more often because of the skyrocketing popularity of Japanese sushi and sashimi cuisine.
