It's hard to imagine the Scorpions hit "Winds Of Change" without that iconic whistling part. But it turns out the band nearly cut it out of the song.
The whistling wasn't supposed to be there in the first place - singer Klaus Meine whistled the melody as a 'guideline' for a guitar or keyboard part, but the band decided to keep it in.
Later a record label rep told them "we have to take out that whistle. It won't work in America." But the band felt the song "lost something" without it, and the rest is history.
