The European Union is one step closer to forcing all small to medium electronics, including cell phones, to use the same charging system.
Officials say the plethora of charging ports has only resulted in "e-waste and consumer frustration."
While the motion doesn't specify what the universal ports must be - it's likely that it would be the USB-C or something similar. That means Apple would have to change the ports on their products.
The 582 to 10 vote doesn't actually put the motion into practice but calls on the European Commission to take a look at such legislation. Something that body has shown an interest in.
