Joanne Halbrecht, M.D. is a board certified orthopedic surgeon, fellowship trained in sports medicine with over 25 years of experience in state-of-the-art the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and pain in adults and children. This includes ACL,MCL, rotator cuff, meniscus, labral and tendon tears, joint sprains, cartilage injuries, fractures and arthritis. Her expertise in arthroscopic surgery has resulted in her serving as one of the exclusive invited faculty at the Orthopedic Learning Center in Chicago where she has taught several courses in knee and shoulder arthroscopy to orthopedic surgeons from all over the world. She has several publications in orthopedic journals and has been a team physician for football and hockey.
Before relocating to Coeur d’Alene in 2019, Dr. Halbrecht was the founder and medical director of Boulder Institute for Sports Medicine where she practiced for 24 years. In 2015 she established Boulder Regenerative Medicine. She was the first in the state of Colorado to use adipose (fat) tissue processing it with the FDA-cleared Lipogems® device and has since performed hundreds of procedures. She is a member of the Biologics Alliance, a group of orthopedic surgeons who are known worldwide for their research, knowledge and use of biologics. Dr. Halbrecht was elected Director of National Patient Advocacy in the group. She has also authored papers and lectured nationally on stem cell therapy.
In her spare time, Dr. Halbrecht enjoys fishing, boating, skiing and traveling.
