Ozzy Osbourne Commemorates Bat-Biting Anniversary With Detachable Head Toy

On January 20, 1982 Ozzy Osbourne infamously bit the head off a bat during a Black Sabbath concert in Des Moines, Iowa. Now, 37 years after one of the most notorious moments in rock history, the Prince of Darkness is commemorating the incident by selling a plush toy bat — with a detachable head.

"Today marks the 37th Anniversary since I bit a head off a f*cking bat! Celebrate with this commemorative plush with detachable head," Ozzy captioned an Instagram photo gallery showcasing the bat keepsake and 1982 concert poster.

As the story goes, someone from the audience threw the live bat at Ozzy's feet during the concert. The singer picked up the squirming animal, and as he recalls in his memoir I Am Ozzy, “Immediately, though, something felt wrong. Very wrong. For a start, my mouth was instantly full of this warm, gloopy liquid, with the worst aftertaste you could ever imagine. I could feel it staining my teeth and running down my chin. Then the head in my mouth twitched. Oh f**k me, I thought. I didn’t just go and eat a f**king bat, did I?”

You did, Ozzy. You most definitely did.
