Hologram tours, are you ready for Metallica?

In 2012 I went to Coachella, it was my only time at the festival, a definite bucket list item for me.  I pride myself on loving all music, and honestly, if you do it well, I'm all in.  Just love what you do and leave a pint of blood on the stage, please.  But what I saw at Coachella wasn't able to leave anything on the stage, because what I was seeing wasn't real...  I saw Tupac Shakur perform that night.

So here I am, confused and amazed at the same time.  The technology is INSANE! No, it didn't look real, but it did look real... if you know what I mean.  Obviously a hologram, obviously a computer generated 'Pac, but here I was 16 years after the death of one of the most prolific rappers the game has ever seen, and I'm not gonna lie, it was AMAZING.

The hologram of Ronnie James Dio will go on tour next year,  and we've seen Michael Jackson and Elvis already, so is this really the concert of the future?  Lars Ulrich sure seems to think so....

"I believe the basic human need is to connect to other human beings — that's what we all strive for in any way possible," he said. "So if there's a way that that could be… a hundred years from now, fifty years from now, and I'm a hologram, fine with me. It's fine with me."

I wholeheartedly agree, Lars!  I say, let 'em play, holograms or not.  The fact is, it will allow more people to enjoy performances from incredible artists they may have never seen.  Let the people rock, just let them rock!
