Ultimate Guita rwas given more details into Metallica's decision to cancel their performances at Louder Than Life and Sonic Temple. An exec who works with Danny Wimmer Presents, the company that produces the festivals, says guitarist James Hetfield has to participate in mandatory "sobriety weekends" as he continues to recover from alcohol abuse.
Wimmer VP Gary Spivak also asked fans who were disappointed in the band's decision to cancel to "understand it, respect it and be with us. Come to our festivals . It's never about one band. It's a whole rock and roll experience."
