A new article from Kerrang lists the most expensive rock albums of all time, with the 2008 Guns N'Roses album Chinese Democracy topping the list at a whopping $13 million.
Why so expensive? The album took 10 years to make and burned through a long list of producers and engineers, some of whom were paid enormous retainers just to do nothing for months on end.
Other famously expensive albums include Def Leppard's Hysteria, which cost $4.5 million to make but earned all that back and more on the strength of 25 million copies sold.
Korn's Untouchables, Metallica's Black Album, and AC/DC's For Those About To Rock also made the list.
