Spokane Valley Sheriff's deputies said they arrested a man and his mother on Saturday after the pair were caught robbing a local cannabis business.

A sheriff's deputy was on patrolling East Indiana Avenue when he noticed a man  trying to conceal his identity.  The man had a sweatshirt pulled over his face.

The deputy parked in a nearby parking lot.   As he watched the man, he saw a silver car parked nearby with a woman slouched at the wheel.  The woman seemed to be trying to hide.
As the deputy watched, he saw the man walk through the shadows near the rear door of a cannabis business.  The man got on his back and entered the business through an open roll up door. Once the suspect was inside, the deputy drove towards the business.  As the suspect exited the establishment, he started to run towards the woman's vehicle.  The deputy witnessed the was carrying several branches of cannabis plants.
Prior to reaching the woman's vehicle, the deputy detained the suspects. 

The man was identified as 24-year-old Jonathan McElroy.  The driver was later identified as McElroy's mother, 45-year-old Sherri Melton.
While searching the car, deputies found methamphetamine.
McElroy was booked into jail for the charge of 2nd Degree Burglary.

Melton was booked into jail for 2nd Degree Burglary and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.
